I had the loveliest evening with Chaeyla and Evan during their formal session at the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple. Chaeyla looked absolutely radiant in her gown from Boda Bridal. I’ve been dreaming of shooting at this temple — so this session was a treat.
One of my favorite things is when couples choose to do a pre-wedding formal session at the temple where they will be sealed. It not only helps the actual wedding day run more smoothly, but it also creates such a meaningful and relaxed experience. If I could give just one tip to all my temple couples, it would be this: schedule a formal session ahead of your big day!
Temple weddings often happen during the day, which means portraits usually fall around noon — when the lighting is harsh and less flattering. The most dreamy, glowy light happens during golden hour — the final two hours before sunset. Since that time isn’t usually an option on the wedding day itself, a pre-wedding session allows us to take full advantage of that magical light.
Plus, Utah weather can be unpredictable. Doing formal portraits in advance ensures we have the flexibility to capture stunning images without the stress of day-of surprises.
