Frequently Asked Questions
- I'm ready to book, what's next?
-
As soon as you are interested in booking a session, shoot me an email or give me a call. We will discuss all the specifics of what you are looking for with your photo session. This will give me the opportunity to learn more about your child and what their hobbies are. Since the goal is to capture their REAL self, each session is unique and customized for them. Once we get your date settled we will work together to get questionairres sent out to the important people in your childs life. We will surprise your child with their answers when we reveal the finished photos. You will also pay the $150 session fee at this time.
- What should my child wear?
-
Bring up to three outfits, whatever you think shows off your child’s personality the most. If she dances, feel free to bring a leotard and dance shoes as well. If your daughter HATES dresses, don’t bring one! Feel free to bring a sports uniform as well. Please bring at least one outfit that is normal clothes (not sports gear/activity gear).
This is a unique opportunity and I want you to look amazing! Avoid stripes and plaid. Solid colors photograph much better than busy patterns. Bring a variety of colors and mix the level of styles. Some should be dressy, some dressy-casual, and some casual.. Also bring any props related to what your daughter loves. If she’s in sports, bring her basketball and shoes or swim goggles. If she LOVES shoes, bring a TON of them and we will use them in the photos. Have fun with this!
- How long will our session last?
-
Photo sessions can range from one to two hours. We will meet at the selected location at the scheduled time, go over any special photo requests or needs you have, and then get shooting. We will do lots of different poses, backgrounds, and walk around our location to get new perspectives. I’m happy to accommodate any fun posing ideas you have, or any props you’d like to incorporate. At the end of the session, I’ll answer any last questions and then we’re all finished.
- What happens after our session?
-
Once we’ve captured some great shots, the editing will begin. It takes about two weeks to edit and prepare your gallery. Once I have processed your photos, I will arrange a time to meet with you and your family to show you the photos in a fun slideshow. Once you’ve seen all of the options, I will help you narrow down your selection, measure your walls for any canvas prints or help you choose photos for your album. I’ll present you with the answers people submitted and your child will get see just how much you and other loved ones appreciate her by being able to read what everyone said.
- Do you offer digital files?
-
Yes! Digital files are available for purchase. I also send complimentary files with each print and album purchase. Print prices start at $50.
- How did you get started in photography?
-
I have always enjoyed photography. I began my photography career in high school taking classes and working for a local photography studio. In college, I studied journalism and worked as a newspaper photographer for three years before I switched to running my own photography business.
I loved the energy I felt during my first photojournalism assignment, and I've been chasing that dream ever since. I get the same thrill with each portrait session I capture. For the past 15 years, I’ve been capturing these special moments in northern Utah. I love getting to know my teens and their families. I also enjoy leading photography workshops and mentoring new photographers. - What makes your style unique?
-
I find that being natural is often better than being over processed. I don’t succumb to every photography fad out there. I want my photos to be timeless, so I have a more natural looking exposure and post-processing than some other photographers. You’ll be able to hold one of my photos in 10 or 20 years and not feel that it’s dated.
