What’s your favorite part about being in floral industry? I love getting to do something different for every event. I also am able to use some of my schooling and experience in fashion and interior design.
Why did you decide to become a florist? I've always been creative and loved working with my hands, when my career in fashion merchandising ended I still wanted to work with texture, color, etc. and I decided to try my hand at floral design.
What’s your least favorite part about floral design? Not a lot of clients and vendors are educated about the cost of flowers.
What makes you stand out from your competitors, are all florists equal? I use quality blooms, my mechanics are solid, and I have a unique look to my designs. Every florist designs differently making it unequal in terms of design and quality.
What are the benefits of hiring a professional to do floral arrangements versus doing it yourself? Flowers are perishable, delicate blooms. Having a professional who knows how to keep them alive is extremely important.
How far in advance should a bride book/inquire about your services and why? 3+ months in advance. Flowers are ordered on a first come, first serve basis. Hiring and booking sooner allows you to make sure you get the flowers you actually want.
What is the first questions brides usually ask when inquiring about your services? They usually ask what my pricing is. I tell them each event is customizable and based on your desires and needs.
What is a consultation/first meeting typically like? Its all about collaboration together to bring their vision to life. Knowing your colors, theme, etc. helps when planning out their designs.
What are some things that brides don’t typically expect to happen during a consult/meeting?* The idea that you can get creative and do something different!
Describe your dream bride/client: Someone who wants the flowers to be the main design element in the wedding.
What are some fun secrets about the floral industry? Adding a foraged element to your arrangements allows it to blend in with the venue and season, making it truly unique to your wedding day.
What do you wish photographers and other professionals knew about your industry?People spend a ton of money on a wedding and photographers should take the time to capture all the details of the day.
