I am pleased to spotlight my friend Richie Steadman who is an amazing DJ. Richie and I went to college together and we were in the same intro to radio class back in the day. I always recommend hiring a DJ. They do so much more than just playing music. Having an emcee run your party is super helpful. If you are wanting a fun reception, Richie is your guy.

What is your favorite part of being a DJ? The trust that people instill in us to help their most important days be the very best and getting paid to party.
Why did you decide to become a DJ? Fell into it. I was a radio DJ and was asked to step into being a party/wedding DJ.
What makes you stand out from your competition? All of the DJs at my company are entertainers (actors, voice actors, emcees etc) in addition to their DJ skills.
Why should I hire a DJ versus doing it myself? All of the stress gets put on the professional who does the service week in and week out.
How far in advance should I book your services? It is never too soon.
How do customers find you? Every event is an audition for the next event. Whether it is someone at that event that will hire us for the next one OR the pictures from that event pique someones interest on social media. Always on. Always the best.
What is the first question customers ask you? What makes you different from competitors?
What is your consolation usually like? Lots of jokes and laughter. Bring the vision — we will create the plan together.
What are some things that brides don’t typically expect to happen during a consult/meeting? Laugh so hard AND that they could get everything they wanted and more.
What is your favorite product or service and why? Any party. Anytime. Anywhere.
Describe your dream client: People who love music. Want to have a good time. Can be clear and realistic in their expectations.
What are some questions your wish grooms would ask you or know? Where does the garter toss come from? What can I do to surprise (romantically) my bride? I wish they knew why DJs cost what they cost.
What are some fun secrets about your industry? The more obscure (personal) the request the better it is.
If you want a dance party the hosts of the party need to be ON the dance floor.
Lots of DJs compensate with Sound over music knowledge.
What do you wish photographers knew about your industry? The pictures look better when we all work together to create and capture moments.
