Cambrie is such a talented young women. I loved meeting her and learning about her hobbies. Based on everything her family said about her she is one determined girl.
"Cambrie made me a Mama and had the ability to pull together strained relationships within our family just by being born. Cambrie is one in a million! She has a personality that you are drawn to and want to be around. She is always caring and kind to others and always willing to do what is right. She is witty and makes me laugh every day. Ever since she was born she has had a smile that has drawn people to her. She wouldn't believe that about herself, but she has several leadership qualities." — Mom
"Cambrie will stand up for what she believes in. She will use her words to make sure people understand her. Cambrie doesn't mind going against social norms when she feels it is the right thing to do. She insisted on participating in the walk out against school violence despite her mom's trepidation. She did her research on what was going to happen, used her words to communicate what she wanted to do and her research, and didn't care what the rest of the world thought." — Grandma Jan
"We joke around a lot, our latest joke is that I like to say 'I am a professional chef, I read a book about it'. She quickly responds, 'No Dad, you listened to an audio book.' " — Dad
"Cambrie has a love and interest for the ocean which I have loved sharing a similar interest. When Cambrie was about eight years old she decided she wanted to become scuba certified. She had to wait until she was 10 years old to become certified. Cambrie went to work saving for her scuba certification. She made and sold craft projects, saved her money given to her at birthdays, and worked in many ways to save for that day so that she could become certified. At 10 her dream to become scuba certified became a reality.
After becoming scuba certified, her sense of adventure kicked in. Cambrie's first scuba diving adventure was in Hawaii. Her dives were a success in spite of some painful ear problems she had. During one of her dives, the dive master placed an octopus on her head. Did Cambrie flinch at that experience? No, she enjoyed the moment. Her Grandpa and I will cherish those memories that we had together on her first dive experience." — Grandma Sharon
"My one piece of advice is don't let society change who you are!! Stick to your core values, always choose what is right and good, always chase your dreams, and always enjoy the journey. Enjoy the ups and the downs...learn from the bad and from the good. It is not always about the finish line...but it is about the journey that it takes to get there." — Mom
"I love being around Cambrie. She has a beautiful smile and twinkle in her eye that draws you toward her. She has a fun sense of adventure. Cambrie shows her ability to make dreams happen through her hard work and gifts that she has been given. Cambrie observes the world, learns, reflects and draws her own conclusions. She has the ability to share those views in a kind and honest way that is in alignment with what she knows and feels to be true. Cambrie is a beautiful person, both on the inside and out!" — Grandma Sharon
"I have always said that if Cambrie can use her determination as an adult she will be able to achieve whatever she wants. She has worked very hard the past several years to catch up to the ability of her teammates in water polo who started before her. Her coach said she is a true student of the sport as she is always asking what to improve on and how to get better." — Mom
"Cambrie was playing in a Water Polo Tournament. She was upset that she was not playing as much as she thought she should. We discussed the specifics of her performance. She identified the things she needed to improve, and she began working on them. She would rather do something about a problem than just complain about it.
Her determination showed when, Cambrie was the least experienced player on her team, and she became one of the strongest players on the team. Cambrie is honest and patient with herself. She has learned that gaining knowledge and skills takes time. Sometimes it comes easy and other times is it a struggle. Cambrie can honestly look at herself and determine what she needs to do to improve." — Grandpa David
